AutoCad on the Mac
Just re-posting Screenshots at ArchDaily of the new AutoCad being developed for Mac OS.
Codename: Sledgehammer. (Weird?)
It’s interesting to think that AutoDesk is expanding platform capabilities of AutoCad even as it tries to get everyone onto Revit/BIM. They always seemed fairly anti-Mac. Having worked in a Mac-based architecture firm, I can attest to the insufferable limitations of VectorWorks. The most recent versions of AutoCad seem to be based on the principle that hiding functionality is a way to make a ‘friendlier’ UI. I can’t believe how much of a dinosaur I feel saying this, but I actually turn it back to the ‘classic’ environment. I’d say things have been going downhill since about AutoCad 2006. Hopefully AutoDesk will make the experience slick-er for the Mac… I hear gestures are going to be incorporated… looking forward to it!
